Sponsoring an event

Sponsoring events can be a great way to give back to your community.

It can also be a great way to provide your business with positive advertising and vuild brand awareness to new customers.

Events come in a range of different sizes.

Sometimes it can be a challenge to work out where is the best place to spend your money and time.

Think about:

  • Start small.
  • Do not over extend yourself either time or money-wise in sponsoring an event.
  • Sponsor an event that you are passionate about i.e., it could be something connected with a hobby or interest of yours or a charity.
  • Local Chambers of Commerce often hold smaller networking functions apart from their monthly dinners.
  • At events like 'After 5's' they invite one or two of their members to sponsor the event which means they pay for 'finger food' and they get to display their business banners, brochures and business cards. The sponsors also provide the Lucky Door Prize, which also can be related to their business. This is a great way to 'start small'
  • When sponsoring an event you need to consider what is your ROI (Return On Investment)- will it worth it for your business to sponsor the event?
  • It is important to also think about your target market when sponsoring an event, is it an appropriate event for you to sponsor?
  • Local Councils also offer opportunities when running charity events to have multiple sponsors, so that you time/money input is reduced compared to sponsoring a whole event on your own.
