Promote your brand with a business mascot

A novel way to increase your business' engagement with your audience is to create a brand or mascot for your business.

"Mascotte" is a french word which means lucky charm - which explanins why we usually associate mascots with sports teams.

There are number of recogniseable mascots that spring to mind:

  • L.J. Hooker - Mr Hooker Bear
  • QANTAS - Koala
  • Mortein - Louie The Fly
  • Street's Ice-Cream - The Paddle-Pop Lion
  • McDonald's - Ronald McDonald
  • Michelin - Michelin Man
  • Compare The Market - Meerkat
  • Bundaberg Rum - Polar Bear

The above brands' mascots have helped them become recognisable in the marketplace.

You don't have to dress anyone in an animal suit - there are other ways to get attention.

You can also use a character (person or creature), often placed next to a logo, to make your business more eyecatching.

They also embody the 'personality' of your brand.

Alternatively, you could have a character who features in your product or marketing, like "clippy" the paperclip in Microsoft Office.

There are so many options.

A couple of questions to get you started:

  • If your brand was a person you met at your coffee shop - what would they be like?
  • What mascot and/or animal could help establish your brand?
