BTW WDYKW? By The Way, Who Do You Know Who?

The phrase above is a phrase that is not used often enough in business.

From time to time a business owner will need to be connected with another business owner or someone that can help them.

They also might be seeking to 'get their foot in the door' to promote their services to a company or other business.

Each individual person has on, average 250 - 500 contacts.

There are people within your family, friends, business/work circle who know people who know people.

Let's look at an example.

Say you have a Printing business and you are looking to increase your sales.

You look at different target markets and decide that you want to approach some local schools.

Having local schools as a customer would mean printing their yearbooks and other products.

You might not know anyone personally in those schools - but who do you know that knows a person who teaches at the school?

You begin by asking family, friends and business/work associates.

Chances are that within your network someone will know someone that teaches at a school in your vicinity.

Once you find that person, ask them who is the best person at the school to speak with and ask if it is possible to be introduced to them.

You can do this either in person or it could be done via an email introduction with all parties copied in.

Your chances of simply getting an appointment increase with a personal introduction, rather than cold calling.

Remember, if you need a connection, think of 'by the way, who do you know who?'
